![]() The new powers granted to Odin via the Hugr-Rip make for some interesting twists on the familiar gameplay. It's not quite as diverse a landscape as Ireland in the Wrath of the Druids, but it's still a beautiful and expansive realm. The world of Svartalfheim is huge and lush. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. But the expansion's focus on Odin's tale and the Norse mythology makes this feel less like an expansion and more like a spin-off. As Dawn of Ragnarök shows though, there's still more left in Eivor's (and Odin's) story left to tell. After the base game and the two major expansions that came included in the game's Season Pass content, it's natural to assume Ubisoft was moving on to the next chapter of the Assassin's Creed series once the season was over. The third Godfather movie has the iconic line, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." That's a perfect way to describe the feeling when playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök. ![]() But even with the Hugr-Rip, as well as the slew of new weapons and skills to discover in the vastness of Svartalfheim, will Odin find the strength to defeat Surtr and save his son? And how will these visions of an adventure from a past life serve to aid and shape Eivor's story in their current life? Show more ![]() With this, Odin can steal the powers of his foes and use their own abilities against them. These dwarves gift the Allfather with a powerful artifact, the Hugr-Rip. By agreeing to unite the various pockets of dwarvish resistance, Odin finds some talented allies. Though he may be forced to fight alone, Odin will not go into battle without help. To save his son, Odin must seek out and defeat Surtr's gathered forces, from his minions of both ice and fire to the offspring that serve as generals to his armies. These visions tell of a quest Odin set upon to rescue his son Baldr from the clutches of his archnemesis Surtr, the fiery leader of the armies of Muspelheim and Jotenheim, and the one predestined to bring about the end of days known as Ragnarök. Plagued by disturbing visions of a past life, Eivor enters into a deep sleep, reliving their past as the Allfather, Odin. ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA: DAWN OF RAGNARÖK is the third major content expansion to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, taking players away from Eivor's main adventures in early England and shifting focus to the realm of Svartalfheim, mythological home to the dwarves.
